Marjorie
, is an artist, an educator, and a papermaker.  She has a master’s degree from the University of Illinois in painting and art education. Her teaching has spanned age levels from primary and secondary to the university level and beyond.  As a painter she has exhibited widely in local, national, and international exhibitions and is represented in many private, university, corporate, and museum collections in the United States, Italy, Germany, Egypt, Hungary, Denmark, Jamaica, Japan, and South Korea.

Her interest in paper and papermaking began over thirty years ago and has continued to dominate her work. In addition it has taken her to countries and cultures that perhaps would have never been imagined.  Teaching papermaking to individuals in other countries has been an extremely valuable experience. The transfer of knowledge and skill is gratifying to the teacher, but the wealth of exposure gained by the interaction with peoples of other lands and cultures is far more important and rewarding.

While the need to express visually the questions, observations, pains, delights, and general distinctions of her personality has been a driving force in her life, she has also strived toward the role of wife and mother.

In 2004, as president of IAPMA, (The International Association of Hand Papermakers and Paper Artists) she was invited to jury a student competition of handmade paper garments in Jeonju, South Korea.  This experience has been another introduction to the culture and people of a country with a 2000-year-old history of handmade paper.  She has been invited back in 2005, 2006, and 2007 to participate as a juror again, lecture at the University, and participate in the yearly Professional Fashion Exhibit sponsored by the Jeonju Fashion Association.

Again, her participation in South Korea, illustrates her commitment to the experience of global contact as an artist, an educator, and a papermaker.

In addition, Marjorie has taught elementary, high school, university and adult art in formal and informal classes. In 1998, she traveled six-weeks throughout Australia, Tasmania, and New Zealand consulting and conducting papermaking workshops.
